This is a original and
official Memorial Service Card produced by the Bureau of
Engraving and Printing. Memorial card 9 1/2" x 5"
for the memorial service for President James Garfield
who was assassinated in 1881. This card is an original,
not a copy. It is on heavy almost tag board type paper,
it is a bit yellowed with age. The card says: on the
left- President March 4, 1881 Died Sept 19th 1881 Age
49 years. On the right: Eulogy by Hon James G. Blaine
House of Representatives Feb 27th, 1882. Chairman of the
Senate Committee- John Sherman; Chairman of the House
Committee William McKinley (who was elected president
and himself assassinated in 1901). |
