Jefferson–Jackson Day is the annual fundraising dinner held by Democratic Party. It is named for Presidents Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson founders of the Democratic Party. This event was held February 19, 1948 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington D.C. during Harry Truman's first term as President after the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Original numbered ticket.
Historical Notes
An Iowa Democratic Party panel voted on Saturday to change the name of the popular Jefferson-Jackson dinner, joining several state parties in distancing itself from the legacies of the two former slave-owning presidents for whom the dinner is named.
