Rare 1888 Harrison Night Parade Lantern. Made of paper, it has an amazing array of color chromolithographic patriotic symbols and images on each panel. One is for President Benjamin Harrison and the other is for his Vice-President Levi Morton from the 1888 Presidential campaign. The paper lantern would have been fastened to a wire frame on a pole or sturdy pole. Candles were placed inside on a stand attached to the pole and the lantern would be illuminated for the night parade. Night parades were the norm & very popular from before the Civil War up to 1900 when cities began getting street lights As you can imagine 99% of them most likely burned up Amazing piece of presidential americana and one of the very few to survive. Beautifully framed for display in your library, office or den.
