Historical Notes
A very rare large banner of America's First President George Washington. Includes the wording "Dated 1776 Says; THE FATHER OF OUR COUNTRY"
This banner was most likely used at the Centennial held in Philadelphia in 1876 and used again a few years later during the celebrations to mark the 100th Anniversary of Washington death in 1899.
Washington died in 1799 and in 1899 there was quite a bit of remembrance and celebration of his passing. Unlike today he was still quite revered and admired as the Father of our Country.
A great and impressive large piece which would be the centerpiece of any collection. Beautifully framed and ready for display in your library, office, den or collection.
