1976 National Bicentennial Medal. Approximately 12.9 grams. .900 fine gold. Proof condition. Stored in the original display box and wood case with the original brochure included. Original. Very attractively designed with the Great Seal of the United States on one side and the Statue of Liberty on the reverse.
THIS MEDAL WAS SANCTIONED BY CONGRESS WHICH DIRECTED, "A NATIONAL MEDAL SHALL BE STRUCK COMMEMORATING 1776 AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE TO AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE."
OBV: STATUE OF LIBERTY RINGED BY 50 STARS AND THE LEGEND, "LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS"
REV: THE GREAT SEAL OF THE UNITED STATES AND THE LEGENDS, "AMERICAN REVOLUTION BICENTENNIAL" AND "WE THE PEOPLE"
