Original Sun-Times newspaper from Chicago that proclaimed Gerald Ford as Ronald Reagan's running mate in 1980 instead of George H.W. Bush, just as the Republican GOP Convention was set to start. Shades of Dewey Defeats Truman, in fact this newspaper is again from Chicago just like the famous newspaper error that announced Thomas Dewey had defeated Harry Truman for the presidency. The front page headline states: "It's Reagan and Ford - Former President Agrees to VP Deal" Certainly a scarce collectors item, but not nearly as popular as the Dewey Defeats Truman error - at least not yet!

Historical Notes
Is it something about Chicago? The world's most famous newspaper error "Dewey Defeats Truman" was published by the Chicago Tribune. Now the Chicago Sun-Times proclaims Reagan incorrectly picks Ford to be his Vice President - a position which eventually went to George Bush.
