Steel-engraved frontispiece portrait of Lincoln. 9x5½, original dark brown pebbled and blind stamped cloth, front cover decoratively lettered in gilt. 1866. Published prior to Library of Congress numbers. Published by the Government Printing Office by order of Congress on February 12, 1866 in memory of Abraham Lincoln. The book is written as an oratory - recalling in often flowery detail the story of his life, the significance of his accomplishments, and the end of slavery. The appendix goes into detail about what happened in the aftermath of his death. Sixty nine printed pages.
Historical Notes
These scarce books are typically priced based on condition. Foxing (otherwise known as toning spots) are common on the inside pages. The binding on this particular book is weak and missing part of the leather covering on the spine.
