A colorful Revolutionary-themed Union patriotic cover. The oversized 1776 immediately catches the eye, making it more visually striking than many Revolutionary-themed covers. Unused and original.

Early Union patriotic covers often carried uncompromising messages calling for decisive military action against the Confederacy. Such envelopes reflected Northern determination that preserving the Union justified whatever military resources were necessary to suppress the rebellion.
