1895 New York State Republican League Convention Delegate Badge. Interesting ladder style badge with each rung of the ladder in some type of chrome with the words Delegate, Binghamton and 1895. Hanging from the last ladder is a medallion with flag and initials of the R.L.S.N.Y. On the reverse the medallion reads "Eighth Annual Convention of the Republican League of the State of New York held at Binghamton, Sept 4-5th 1895. The ladder pieces are actually a bright chrome like appearance not the brown you see in the photograph. For some reason it just photographed that way. Original

Details

The Republican League emerged in the late 19th century as a grassroots movement promoting reform and civic engagement within Republican ideals. Unlike the official Republican Party, it often challenged party bosses and corruption, emphasizing citizen activism over machine politics. The League aimed to steer Republicanism back to its earlier, purer principles.
