This style CDV portait often has the original signature of Johnson beneath the portrait of Johnson in bold ink. However, this version has an extremely light signature, perhaps in pencil, and we cannot verify that it is indeed Johnson's signature. So instead, we are pricing this as if it were not signed. If it turns out that you discover that it is his signature then you've got yourself a bargain. But we are assuming it is not.
