Civil War Patriotic Cover “Longing for the WHITE House” Political Satire Envelope
Original Civil War patriotic envelope with humorous dark-toned cartoon depicting a pig identified as “Boareguard”—a pun on Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard. Caption reads: “Boareguard on a midnight reconoitering expedition.” One of the more creative wartime caricatures mocking Southern commanders. Strong graphic appeal and scarce humorous design.
