1860s Civil War "Union Glue Cover –The Union Feeling is Increasing. Great illustration showing Jefferson Davis stuck in "union glue" with three individuals trying to pull Jefferson Davis out of the glue. The individuals in the illustration are identified as confederates "Davis" (Jefferson Davis), Wigfall (Louis Wigfall), Toombs (Robert Toombs) and "Stephens" (Alexander Stephens). In the background is a distraught woman identified as "Mrs Sippi" a period personification of the state of Mississippi.
Mrs. Sippi" says: "Didn't I tell you, Jeff, not to let that stuff get into the house?", and young Jeff Davis replies: "Couldn't help it, Mother, those Yankee pedlars would leave it". Original and Unused.
