1953 Dwight Eisenhower Official Inaugural Medal – Rare Process Medals
An exceptional opportunity to acquire two production-stage examples from the 1953 Dwight D. Eisenhower Official Inaugural Medals: the Second strike (Stage 3) and Trimming/Sizing Strike (Stage 4) showing the medal after trimming but before final sandblasting stage
Our understanding is that there may have only been one complete six-piece process set that was produced, with each medal representing a different stage in the manufacture of the official inaugural medal. We recently acquired four of the six stages from that set.
Because the remaining two stages have not surfaced and completing the original six-piece set appears highly unlikely, we have decided to offer the four surviving examples individually, giving several collectors the opportunity to own a medal from this remarkable process set.
Offered here are the Stage 3, and Stage 4 medals that show the trimming of the oversized medal to eliminate excess metal, and the result of that action. The two stages earlier stages in our possession are offered separately in an additional listing.
Original, of course.
From what is believed to be one of the largest collections of Presidential Inaugural Medal process sets ever to come to market.
