The Exeter UFO Festival commemorates one of America’s most famous close-encounter cases—the 1965 “Incident at Exeter.” In the early hours of September 3, 1965, teenager Norman Muscarello reported seeing a large, brightly lit craft hovering near Route 150 outside Exeter, New Hampshire. Local police officers responded and later stated they witnessed a similar object with flashing red lights moving silently through the sky. The case drew national attention and was investigated by the U.S. Air Force under Project Blue Book.
