This is an original ferrotype promoting General George B McClellan for President and Vice President. Yes, both positions! The front has a photo of McClellan and the words 1864 For President on the brass rim and the name McClellan over the photo. The reverse has the identical photo of McClellan and the words "1864 For President" on the rim and the and the name McClellan above the photo.. again. Oddly we have seen this before, with both sides having the photo of McClellan and not C.M. Pendleton his runing mate. We see no sign of the second side photo being replaced. But since we've seen double images of this token badge before we can't help but wonder if the manufacturer either made a mistake or was distributing these tokens to some voters that objected to Pendleton being on the ticket. The supension loop at the top is still present.
Now that we have said all of the above let us say clearly that the photos on both sides will not win any beauty contests which is why it is priced so attractively. Both photos are heavily marked, have surface loss and spotting. Oddly, the image on the Vice President side is more recognizable.
