This is an exquisite hand carved and hand painted wood statue of President Dwight Eisenhower measuring 8.5" tall. It was produced by master carvers Gunnarsson from Stockholm Sweden, and inscribed with the carvers name on the bottom of the foot. The Gunnarssons were were well known for their flat-plane style carving out of one piece of wood. Original.
One of several different Presidents hand carved by Gunnarssons, each one unique, that we will have the privilege of offering in the weeks to come. Without a doubt one of our favorite items.
Flat-plane style of woodcarving is a style of figure carving where the figures are carved in large flat planes, using a carving knife with very little rounding or sanding is done.
