1920 Harding Coolidge Amerca First Campaign Poster. This is the classic republican poster promoting Warren Harding for President and Calvin Coolidge for Vice President campaign poster professionally matted and framed. Interestingly, someone added "For Congress S.P. Powell" at the bottom of the poster just above the names of Harding and Coolidge. It is possible that it was Powell himself that signed it but we have no way of knowing.  S.P. Powell was the republican candidate from Virginia's DIstrict 1 who ran against the incumbent S. Otis Bland. Powell lost the election by a vote of 80.4% to 19.6%. The poster has condition issues but displays well due to its professionally framing. Original.

Details

At the beginning of his campaign, Warren Harding stated:  “America’s present need is not heroics, but healing; not nostrums, but normalcy; not revolution, but restoration; not agitation, but adjustment; not surgery, but serenity; not the dramatic, but the dispassionate; not experiment, but equipoise; not submergence in internationality, but sustainment in triumphant nationality….”
