This is the scarce 1929 Herbert Hoover Official Inauguration medal. Bronze. Designed by Herny K. Bush-Brown and struck by the U.S. Mint. Only 1,012 of these scarce medals were produced. This is the finest examples of this medal we have ever owned. We are grading it as Very Fine and not uncirculated simply because we always grade our items conservatively. The front reads "Inauguration March 4, 1929" and has the designer's initials "BB" in the lower field before Hoover's bust; the reverse says "Herbert Hoover/ President/ Charles Curtis/ Vice/ President" above an American eagle with spread wings. To the eagle's left is a map of Europe and to its right are a surveyor's tripod, a steam shovel, and a mining facility. Original.
It is rare we have one of these authentic medals in our collection. We are indeed fortunate that this is the fourth one we have acquired.
