1860s  John Bull Making His Speech to King Cotton - Civil War Cover. This Northern satirical cover critiqued Britain’s "King Cotton" diplomacy, mocking John Bull (Britain’s personification) for prioritizing economic self-interest over abolitionist values. It depicts Britain as willing to support the slave-holding Confederacy to secure raw cotton for its vital textile industry, despite public anti-slavery sentiment. Original and unused.
