Outstanding unused Civil War patriotic envelope featuring a large outstretched hand labeled "W.S." dismissing a tiny winged figure identified as "J.D." carrying a skull-and-crossbones flag. The caption, "This tells its own story," requires little explanation, portraying Jefferson Davis and the Confederate cause as insignificant before Union strength. Unused and original.

Civil War envelope publishers often relied on instantly recognizable symbolism instead of lengthy slogans. Here, Jefferson Davis is reduced to a tiny, almost insect-like figure carrying a pirate emblem, while the Union effortlessly brushes him aside. The humorous illustration reflected Northern confidence that rebellion would ultimately be defeated.
