Title reads "Tomb and Shade of Ellsworth / His Spirit Still Lives. Inscription on the left edge identifies the cover as being produced in 1861 by J. Magee, Philadelphia. Original.

Colonel Elmer Ellsworth was killed while removing a Confederate flag from a hotel in Alexandria, Virginia. The phrase "Tomb and Shade of Ellsworth" became a very popular slogan during the civil war era.
