From a huge collection of historical Civil War patriotic covers we recently acquired.
During the Civil War, patriotic envelopes became a popular means of expressing support for the preservation of the Union. Printers combined American flags with poems, slogans, and patriotic declarations intended to inspire national unity. Such envelopes served as everyday reminders of the political and emotional divisions confronting the country.
