1901 "Where President McKinley Was Assassinated" Temple of Music Memorial Token Medal. Interesting medal that we usually see in a pewter color and with a hook for hanging, but this one is a brass/bronze color. One side has an image of the Temple of Music from the New York World's Fair where McKinley was shot, September 5, 1901. The other sice showe "Where President McKinley Died" at the Milburn House. Original memorial medal.
During the Pan-American Exposition, as the 1901 World's Fair was officially known, there was a prominent exhibit called "A Trip to the Moon." It showcased a futuristic representation of space travel, inspired by Jules Verne's novel "From the Earth to the Moon." Visitors could enter a simulated spacecraft, designed like a large cannon, and experience a visual and auditory journey to the moon.
