Original William Taft clay pipe from the 1908 presdiential campaign. Made by Gambier in France as noted on one side. The other side says "Taft". Not to be confused with the smaller version, this one measures 7.25" from tip to tip.
Between 1850 and 1926 the Gambier company in France was one of the world's leading producers of ornate pipes.
