Original and official program from the dedication of the Statue of Helen Keller in the Rotunda of the United States Capitol, October 7, 2009. This was a congressional tribute and includes the great seal at the top of the program and the original tassel is still attached. The statue was installed in the U.S. Capitol the first statue honoring a disabled person, unveiling a bronze of a 7-year-old Helen Keller at her moment of epiphany when she solved “the mystery of language” without sight or hearing.
Historical Notes
The program included remarks by Nancy Pelosi the Speaker of the United states House of Representatives as well as John Boehner the Republican Leader of the House and Mitch McConnell, Republican Leader of the Senate.
