Official bronze inaugural medal from the 1909 inauguration of William Taft as President. Minted by Joseph K Davidson’s Sons and is 51 mm or 2 inches in diameter. Only 3,000 of these medals were struck. The medal is in very good condition with small dings along the outer rim that we noticed only with a magnifying glass. There are a some dark spots on the reverse. The medal has a nice patina. The front shows busts of both Taft and his Vice Presidential running mate Sherman facing left. Surrounding their portraits it says "Inauguration March 4 1909. The reverse is inscribed in 8 lines: William Howard Taft President, James Schoolcraft Sherman Vice President.
