Scarce Eisenhower Nixon Metropolitan DC Police Numbered Inauguration 1953 Metal Badge. This is a very scarce and highly prized inaugural police badge from the 1953 inauguration. It is in excellent condition. Very fine condition. Original
The Inaugural badge tradition started in 1937 with the election of Franklin D. Roosevelt. The Washington D. C. Metropolitan Police authorities and the commissioners issued Inaugural Badges to selected individuals for identification purposes and access to the inaugural events. Each badge was silver in appearance and numbered on the face of the badge
