This is the official Inaugural Medal from the election of William Howard Taft as President and James Sherman as Vice President, of the United States. 51 mm. Medalist was Joseph K. Davison & Sons. A limited quantity of 3,000 medals were originally issued, far fewer remain in circulation today, especially in this fine condition.
Presented in an attractive glass display case with beautiful mahogany color wooden base, medal stand and commemorative bronze plaque on the front.

The new President took his oath on the Supreme Court Bible, which he used again in 1921 to take his oaths as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. An inaugural ball that evening was held at the Pension Building.
