Can't say we've ever seen a hat like this before! It is from the 1984 Democratic National Convention that was held in San Francisco. The convention nominated Walter Mondale for President and Geraldine Ferraro for Vice President. The cardboard hat was manufactured flat and the delegate is instructed through a six step process to convert it to a convention hat. Original. Never used.
