Interesting Great Seal plaque that once hung in the office of Sergeant at Arms Joe C. Duke. Duke was Sergeant-at_arms of the Senate from 1949-1953 and again 1955-1965. Weighing nearly three pounds it is a handpainted plaque with raised graphics and lettering. Excellent quality with fine details. On the reverse it is signed by F. Lundholm Wash 49. We do not know who Mr. or Ms. Lundholm was but he created this plaque and one with the United States Senate seal (which is sold separately). An interesting conversation piece from the office of a man that "escorted Presidents and walked with kings".
This is part of a collection we acquired from the estate of Joe Duke. If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind item with amazing history this is it.

Details
The Great Seal of the United States is used to authenticate certain documents issued by the U.S. federal government. The phrase is used both for the physical seal itself (which is kept by the U.S. Secretary of State), and more generally for the design impressed upon it. The Great Seal was first used publicly in 1782.
