Amazing and rare Ladies Ticket to the Grand Inauguration Ball given by the 12th Ward Democratic Association of Philadelphia in Washington City Tuesday March 3rd 1857, celebrating the inauguration of President James Buchanan. Original. One of the most attractive and colorful inaugural tickets we have ever seen. Still retains the colors and glossy surface. Only the second of these rare tickets to the satellite event that we have seen. Includes the original decorative envelope.
Details
Work had already begun on the Capitol’s new cast-iron dome when James Buchanan took his oath of office on the East Portico. It was visible during the Inauguration ceremonies.
