William Howard Taft, 27th President of the United States also served as the tenth Chief Justice of the United States. He remains the only person to have served in both offices. This letter, dated December 15, 1924 and was written to Herbert E. White, who later became the President of the Sacramento, California bar association. While the letter does not mention the specific event, Taft called the situation that White spoke about as one "which I greatly deplore". Clearly and boldly signed in ink by William Taft. Original.
