1980s Unusual and Bold Reagan & Bush Campaign Placard or Sign. Very wide (22" x 4") and will fit in unusual spots in a room. Imagine a very long wide bumper sticker but its made of a thin cardboard. Would display nicely horizontal or vertical. Original.
During the 1980 presidential campaign, Reagan supporters would often bring toy chimpanzees or wear Bonzo-related merchandise to rallies and events. The use of Bonzo as a campaign symbol was meant to convey Reagan's relatability and sense of humor to the public. While not a conventional political tactic, it added an element of lightheartedness to the campaign and resonated with many voters.
It's worth noting that the use of Bonzo as a campaign symbol was criticized by some who felt it diminished the seriousness of the election and the office of the presidency. However, Reagan's team saw it as a way to connect with the public and showcase his acting background.
