A desirable tribute to one of the Union's earliest and most celebrated martyrs. This remains one of the strongest Ellsworth designs we've seen because it links his sacrifice directly with the defense of Washington. Unused and original.

Colonel Elmer E. Ellsworth became one of the Civil War's first Union heroes after being killed on May 24, 1861 while removing a Confederate flag from an Alexandria, Virginia hotel. His death inspired countless patriotic songs, prints, and Civil War envelopes bearing the rallying cry "Remember Ellsworth!"
