President and Mrs. Clinton welcomed the Emperor and Empress of Japan during their State Visit to the U.S. Following a formal introduction to the Vice President and State Department leaders, the President and Emporer reviewed the troops assembled on the South Lawn and addressed the assembled dignitaries. It was the first visit to the U.S. by the Japanese royal family in over 20 years.
