A remarkable artifact used during the Harry Truman administration for the swearing in ceremony of various cabinet level members. The White House calligraphy as well as the signatured indicate the particular event as well as the date. There are a total of 36 signatures of those attending each event including Chief Justice Vinson whose signature appears four times. Other signatures include Averell Harrimana and Associate Supreme Court Justice Robert H Jackson and others. The opening title page of the bible has a note at he top stating that the Bible was in the custody of White House staff member and receptionist, William Simmons.
