From the office of Senator Eugene McCarthy in Washington D.C. this is a six page statement/release issued in November 1967 entitled "The Record: Opposition to Administration Vietnam Policy. Essentially an early indication of McCarthy's intention to challenge President Lyndon Johnson in the 1968 presidential primary. The statement discusses McCarthy's letter to President Johnson urging the suspension of the bombing of North Vietnam as well as the administration's foreign policy on the U.S. intervention in the Dominican Republic. Original. Interesting peak inside McCarthy's pre-election campaign stance.
Historical Notes
Senator Eugene Mccarthy's entry into the 1968 race for the Democratic presidential nomination ultimately led President Lyndon B. Johnson to drop his bid for reelection.
