Very interesting and scarce original Delegation credential badge from the 1844 Democratic National Convention that was held in Baltimore, Maryland, that nominated James Polk for President. It is a thin paper badge from the Massachusetts Delegation that appears to be a printers proof. Few items exist from this early convention. It features a graphic of a native American with a bow and arrow in the center. An increasingly scarce item. Original.

Historical Notes

In 1844 the printing process of multi-color printing was challenging. It required skill and multiple passes through a printing press in order to get each of the colors in exactly the right position and match the inks to the intended colors.
