Especially noteworthy is the unusual photographic portrait of Hannibal Hamlin. Rather than the familiar somewhat tousle-haired likeness most often encountered on 1860 Lincoln-Hamlin ferrotypes, this example depicts Hamlin with shorter, neatly combed hair and a distinctly different appearance. An uncommon and particularly appealing portrait variety that should be of special interest to advanced collectors of early photographic campaign memorabilia.

Condition: The Lincoln portrait exhibits scattered surface bubbling/blistering along the right side, with additional minor surface marks and wear, as shown. The Hamlin Hamlin portrait exhibits considerable emulsion loss and surface deterioration, primarily across the lower-left portion of the image, along with scattered surface marks and wear, as shown but its downsides are somewhat mitigated by the uncommon photographic. The frame shows minor oxidation marks on the Lincoln side, and spots of heavy oxidation and loss on the Hamlin side.
