1888 Cleveland Thurman Democratic National Ticket With Disputed Race for West Virginia Governor. Nice piece of West Virginia History. Includes the name of A.B. Fleming who won the election but didn't take office until February 8, 1890 while the disputed election ran its course through the courts. Actually both Fleming and his opponent Goff were both actually sworn in on March 4, 1889. Original.

Historical Notes

To make matters even more complicated, the Supreme Court of West Virginia ruled that the ougoing governor Emmanuel Wilsoon would remain as governor until the Legislature agreed that Fleming had defeated Nathan Goff.
