1916 Rare Republican National Convention Montana Badge. Why have you never seen this rare badge before? It's probably because Montana was allocated just 8 delegates at the 1916 Republican National Convention, which was held in Chicago. During this convention, the Republican Party nominated Charles Evans Hughes as their candidate for President of the United States. So the good news is that  this rare ribbon from the Gary Burhop collection is being offered here at a very fair price. The not so good news is that the ribbon is an poor condition. Still quite readable but it has significant fraying and wear and as well as partial seperations. In fact the top part of the ribbon is holding on by a thread. Can it be repaired? Certainly, but in keeping with our policy of leaving historical items as we receive them we offer it here as is. Original.

Historical Notes

Charles Evans Hughes campaigned on the slogan "He Kept Us Out of War," highlighting his stance on neutrality and his opposition to the United States getting involved in World War I. This slogan was used to emphasize his commitment to peace during a time of international conflict.
