1864 Abraham Lincoln Union Ticket & St Albans Raid - From Vermont Newspaper. With image of a globe with an american flag at the top and the text "Our Country" printed on the globe. Titled The Union Ticket, it promotes Abraham Lincoln for President and Andrew Johnson for Vice President plus the sames of electors. Below the Union Ticket is an account of the St. Albans Raid that occurred the week before.
Original, clipped from the October 28, 1864 edition of The Caledonian newspaper. Printed by letterpress.
The St. Albans Raid took place on October 19, 1864 at St. Akbans Vermont. The raid by 21 Confederate solidiers mission was to force the Union Army to divert troops away from the Civil War battlefields to the northern areas of Vermont. The confederate soldiers robbed several banks and escaped back to canad.
