Carthage to Oslo: Biography of Al Gore
A new book on former Vice President Al Gore has been published. Written by Troy Gipson. Carthage to Oslo: Biography of Al Gore, is the only complete account to date of the Vice President and Nobel Laureate, who narrowly lost the Presidency in the controversial 2000 election. The biography delves deeply into Gore's political career as United States Congressman and Senator, while also recounting his early life growing up in Carthage, Tennessee and Washington, DC. Gipson also explores the 2000 Presidential election in detail, recounting Gore's feelings during the campaign and in the aftermath of the election. In addition, the biography recounts Gore's work as an environmental crusader; winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts on the environment, and being awarded an Oscar for his book An Inconvenient Truth. Gipson's book is based on personal conversations with Vice President Gore, along with hundreds of sources and references from the last thirty years of Mr. Gore's career.
Carthage to Oslo: Biography of Al Gore is available from Amazon, and in early November at Barnes and Nobel and local bookstores.
"Al Gore has made a lasting legacy upon the nation and world through his leadership in public service within the US Government, as an environmental activist in the fight against the climate crisis, and as business leader in the public sector with Apple, Google and Current TV. His rise to world prominence has been a long journey, but it all came into focus in 1976 in Carthage, Tennessee, when Gore made his first run for public office. That same year, author Troy Gipson met Gore during a campaign stop, a chance encounter that has lasted to this day and provided Mr. Gipson with rare and unfettered access to one of the most influential figures in modern American politics. Gipson's unique working relationship with Vice President Gore allows for insight far greater than the average biographer can provide. Having known, watched, and worked with Mr. Gore from 1976, Gipson provides profound insights not only into the politician and Vice President who won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his work on climate change; but also the man himself: his motivations, his character, and his insatiable desire to make a difference on the country and world. Breathtaking in scope and moving in intimacy, From Carthage to Oslo: A Biography of Al Gore is the definitive insiders look at one of the most influential politicians and leaders of the last century".
