Sometimes you just don't know what to expect at auction[caption id="attachment_92" align="alignright" width="150"] Rare 1900 Silver Republicans Convention Ticket[/caption]. This week we auctioned a rare ticket to the July 4, 1900 Lincoln Silver Republican National Convention held in Kansas City.We expected this ticket to sell for at least $300 - and possibly as high as $1,000. Boy were we surprised when it sold for only $114.82. The buyer got a great deal. In our 39 years in political collectibles business, this is the first time we have ever seen this historic item. The ticket was issued to a Solomn B. Stouder who was a delegate from Indiana to the convention. The ticket is number 270. In the center is a very attractive patriotic design with the photos of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and the convention's nominee for President William J. Bryan. The Sliver Lincoln Republicans party was formed in 1896 when the group separated from the National Republican Party and held its first convention in 1900. This revolt from party control was in the campaign of 1896 confined to the single issue of bimetalism vs. the single gold standard, among other issues. Congratulations to the buyer. He truly got a great deal.
