50 Star Flag Designer Collection signed by Bob Heft self proclaimed designer of America's 50 star flag. But did Bob Heft truly design the flag? There has been much controversy over the years with many historians claim that Heft was nothing short of a fraud.  Heft claimed for decades that when he was 17 years old when he designed it as part of a class project and then subsequently entered it into a White House competition where his design was selected. But was that the actual design chosen by The White House?

A 2006 episode of Jeoprady thought so. In the now infamous episiode, the clue was; "In the late '50s junior high student Bob Heft designed a new arrangement of these, now know to every American". Alex Trebek revealed the correct response was "Stars of the U.S. Flag".

Heft, who lived in Saginaw, Michigan became a celebrity. He billed himself as a motivational speaker, made public appearances, and charged for his autographs. A colorful character with either a very vivid imagination, a P.T. Barnum celebrity or a young designer that deserves a place in history.

This is part of a unique collection of items from that we acquired from a newspaper reporter in Saginaw, Michigan.

The collection includes eight items including four items signed personally by Bob Heft plus various articles written about Mr. Heff as well as his memorial tribute. One of the articles was written by a United Press International (UPI) reporter and one that includes a photo of Bob Hope with Bob Heft.

Comes with our 100% guarantee  as well a copy of the one authentication certificate from James Spence JSA covering the 22 piece autographed group, of which this is one of the items. Since it came with just one certificate of authenticity and there were 22 items, we have included a photocopy of the authentication with this one item.
