Truly a one-of-a-kind item! As Ronald Reagan's two terms as President drew to a close in 1988, apparently enough citizens wrote to the White House suggesting that First Lady Nancy Reagan run for President, that a draft letter was prepared by the First Ladies staff responding to the letters!
"I want you to know that I am truly flattered by your suggestion that I run for office too. However, having one President in the imediately famly I thikn is probably enough!
This document comes from the collection of a White House assistant to Nancy Reagan, who prepared the original draft letter, and then the First Lady added her commentsand changes in her own handwriting.
She does on to say "It truly brightens my day --- and does a great deal for my morale - thank you!"
