Opening address to the members of Democratic Party Chairman James A. Farley, before the Democratic National Convention, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, June 23 1936. Original, including the original envelope. Sixteen page booklet produced by the Democratic National Committee, which includes the text of Farley's speech. It begins: "In Inaugurating this convention I am conscious of a great responsibility. The occasion which brings us together is one of the most momentous in the history of our country. The continuance of the New Deal is the issue..."
"....The real New Deal, sane and orderly - no the wild, visionary, socialistic or communistic creation of its enemies' imagination - will sail on serenely, go the goal of complete recovery; and at its helm that calm, capable and courageous commander, Franklin D. Roosevelt".
