Civil War Patriotic Cover with Lincoln Union Cannon Bombarding Confederacy, Elaborate Illustrated Design by Richardson NY. 

Striking Civil War patriotic cover featuring an elaborate cannon scene loaded with political and military symbolism. The Union cannon is boldly marked Union, Lincoln, Seward, Scott, and Cameron, while its blast is directed at a collapsing Confederate barricade or cotton-bale defense marked with Southern references including Beauregard, Jeff Davis, Pillow, Stevens, floyd, bonds, letters of marque, and Confederate. A broken timber in the foreground is labeled Palmetto, a likely nod to South Carolina and early secession.

The design has excellent eye appeal, with dramatic red and blue printing and a wonderfully busy composition that rewards close inspection. Beneath the illustration appears the artist’s signature Richardson N.Y., while the lower left printer’s credit reads D. Murphy’s Son, Print. 65 Fulton & 372 Pearl Sts., N.Y. Both are nice period production details and help support the cover’s authentic Civil War-era New York manufacture.

A highly displayable Union propaganda cover that combines political caricature, military imagery, and strong anti-Confederate messaging in one memorable design. Unused and original.
