Civil War Patriotic Cover – Union Soldier Charging with Flag & Cannon, “HOPE” Motto. Striking Civil War patriotic envelope featuring a dynamic red-and-blue illustration of a Union soldier charging forward while carrying the American flag. The soldier stands atop a cannon beside a shield and anchor motif, symbolizing national strength by land and sea. Above the decorative scroll appears the word “HOPE,” a powerful patriotic motto reflecting Northern optimism for victory and preservation of the Union during the Civil War. Unused and original. Not often seen variety, and when we have seen this design before it typically has a reference to a Rhode Island regiment in the banner at the bottom.
