Three Civil war Patriotic Unused Envelopes - George Washington, Winfield Scott. All original. 

Envelope #1: General Winfield Scott sitting and holding up a Union flag in his right hand. The caption Brave in the Field-Wise in Council-a True Patriot-Loyal to the Constitution and the Union" appears below the image

Envelope #2: Scarce black and white envelope with graphic of Geoge Washington with a patriotic shield. The the famous slogan "First in war first in peace and first in the hearts of his countrymen"  at the bottom it refers to the maker F.K. Kimmel 1861. 

Envelope #3 "Flag of the seas, on Oceans wave, Thy stars shall glitter o'er the brave." with graphic of a flag under a dome in the ocean. 

Historical Notes

Civil war patriotic letters were utilized by soldiers and families of solidiers during the civil war. They included the undying love and support, and also served as propaganda.
